Design Leaps of Faith

This being a leap year has inspired me to consider designs for the house that seem to rely on a leap of faith. Whether good or bad, they’re the layouts that create intrigue and cause another glance. Do those under strike your fancy, or should the designers have looked more closely before they jumped?

This chamber has a significant wow factor that has made it pretty popular on It’s a glass floor that seems down to the basement wine cellar. My stomach may wind up somewhere with all the wine bottles if I looked down.

The designer and client was probably planning to save visual distance while creating a modern impact with this glass staircase.

Marrying a waterfall and a table kills two birds with one stone, particularly handy if you’re short on space. This construction is unusual and unexpected, which is just the reason it’s compelling.

Perhaps you have considered a waterfall rather than your sink faucets? The designer had a exceptional vision, and I think that it works. It is controlled by foot pedals, so you don’t need to worry about your hands touching germs once they’ve been washed.

Sculptures in the house can be a persuasive accessory with feel and character. These branches certainly do all three. Paired with the bright wall unit, they command some significant attention.

This couch demonstrates a subtle leap of faith, one that can operate successfully in any home. Add a place of color by draping a bright throw over the middle of the couch, then add cushions over it because it were part of the couch itself. At first glance it seems as if the couch includes different-color cushions down the middle, supplying visual dimension and feel.

We invest a lot of time in the kitchen, and this particular designer clearly meant to make a joyful and energizing environment through daring floral wallpaper, lacquered red cabinetry and colorful accessories. It makes an effect and somehow manages to feel both traditional and modern at precisely the same time.

This kitchen is about the opposite end of the spectrum from the prior one. You can’t help but love a minimal kitchen that cuts down on unnecessary clutter. Or will you? Can this layout float your boat, or does it go overboard?

Beckwith Interiors

This kitchen marries elements from both prior layouts. It’s a fairly nominal decorative yet sports a bright yellow counter tops.

CF + D custom fireplace design

No need to accessorize a fireplace with artwork when the fireplace is a bit of art itself.

16 Stunningly Beautiful Fireplaces

Fireplaces normally come in fairly typical shapes and dimensions. This designer chose a leap of faith by creating one additional, extra wide.

Walls filled with artwork and photos result in focal points that truly personalize a space. But how do you feel if this wall proved right on your bed?

Elad Gonen

This dining area explodes with life in the company of a life-size rearing horse.

Cre8tive Interior Designs

Displayed knickknacks invigorate a space with character. However, they’re not usually found from the kitchen instead of dishware storage. I like the sudden impact and the additional color, but I wonder if aesthetic is winning over performance with this idea.

A shower smack dab in the middle of the toilet is definitely a design leap of faith, even if a transparent enclosure ensures it doesn’t visually disturb the flow.

Mixing patterns and color is all the rage right now, and this distance takes it into a new degree. It is expressive and balanced, and excels with character. Can it be a step too far, or do you like the diverse nature?

This bathroom evokes a living room with gold accessories along with a stocked bookshelf. I’ll gladly name myself a lover.
